Film writing is in a state of flux – the members of the TFCA know that more than anyone. That’s why the TFCA is delighted to announce its latest initiative: weekly features, or “Long Takes,” each written exclusively for our website by one of our many talented members. Though we are an organization dedicated to film criticism, Long Takes is a series that highlights topics in film writing that’s everything but. From Long Takes, expect articles on film retrospectives, trend pieces, notes on Toronto, events, film culture and local film history, festival reports, interviews and profiles (on actors, other critics, film programmers, and so on).

In short, Long Takes gives our members the opportunity to write about film and Toronto in ways their day-to-day writing ventures may not typically find room for. This is a city of readers; a city of engaged and savvy film lovers.
