Established in 2018, the Telefilm Canada Emerging Critic Award was created to find and promote new voices in the field of film criticism.

The winner for the 26th annual TFCA Awards is Alexander Mooney, who has been published in outlets including Exclaim!, Documentary, MUBI Notebook, and In the Mood Magazine. The award carries a cash prize of $1000, courtesy of Telefilm Canada.
