2024

On March 4 at the OMNI King Edward Hotel, the 27th annual TFCA Awards hosted by Amanda Brugel honoured the best films of 2023. BlackBerry won Rogers Best Canadian Film and Swan Song, directed by Chelsea McMullan, won the inaugural Rogers Best Canadian Documentary. Both award carry a cash prize of $50,000, courtesy of Rogers. On March 6 at the OMNI King Edward Hotel, the 26th annual TFCA Awards hosted by Amanda Brugel saw Anthony Shim’s Riceboy Sleeps win the Rogers Best Canadian Film Award among the critics’ celebrations for the best films of 2022. 2012 TFCA Gala: John Dunning Tribute Video

Montreal editor David Bertrand cut this montage of films brought to the screen by Canadian film pioneer and Cinepix co-founder John Dunning, who died last September at 84. On January 10, 2012, at the 15th annual gala awards of the Toronto Film Critics Association, director David Cronenberg presented the Clyde Gilmour Award to Dunning’s son, Greg Dunning.
