Prabhjot Bains is a Toronto-based film critic and editor. He currently serves as Film Editor at RANGE Magazine, where he oversees the publication’s film coverage across its quarterly print edition and daily online platform. His criticism, interviews, and features have also appeared in But Why Tho?, NEXT Magazine, Exclaim!, Our Culture Magazine, The Hollywood Handle, and Tilt Magazine, where he previously served as Managing Film Editor.

A Rotten Tomatoes-approved critic, he regularly covers major international film festivals, including the Toronto International Film Festival, Sundance Film Festival, Hot Docs, and Reel Asian. His work has also been academically published through the University of Guelph, and he has interviewed filmmakers ranging from emerging voices to internationally acclaimed directors. While his cinematic obsessions include the New Hollywood movement, the Hong Kong New Wave, film noir, and Italian genre filmmaking—particularly Spaghetti Westerns and giallo—he’s just as excited to champion contemporary discoveries and future classics.
