TFCA Virtual Gala Wins Canadian Screen Award

April 6, 2022

We’d like to thank the Academy…

The 2021 TFCA Awards Virtual Gala won the Canadian Screen Award last night in the category of Best Live Production, Social Media. The award, fittingly announced in the Canadian Screen Awards’ virtual ceremony, was accepted by the gala’s producers Ashleigh Rains and Bern Euler, and producer/director R.T. Thorne.

The Virtual Gala featured appearances by TFCA Award winners Chloé Zhao (Nomadland), Riz Ahmed (Sound of Metal), Daniel Kaluuya (Judas and the Black Messiah), Maria Bakalova (Borat Subsequent Moviefilm), Radha Blank (The Forty-Year-Old Version), Lee Isaac Chung (Minari), Alexander Nanau (Collective), Tomm Moore and Ross Stewart (Wolfwalkers), Kleber Mendoça Filho (Bacurau), Kelly Fyffe-Marshall, and Jason Ryle. Shot at the Paradise Theatre in Toronto, the event featured TFCA members in conversation about their favourite winners and nominees. The virtual event concluded with the live presentation of the Rogers Best Canadian Film Award, which went to Anne at 13,000 ft., directed by Kazik Radwanski.

Congratulations to Ashleigh, Bern, and R.T., and thank you for getting us together virtually to celebrate the year in film!
