26th Annual TFCA Awards Dates

Drive My Car won Best Picture at the 25th annual TFCA Awards

The Toronto Film Critics Association has set the voting dates and eligibility for the 26th annual TFCA Awards.

 

The voting schedule for this year’s awards is as follows:

-Thursday, Jan. 5 at 5:00pm EST: Awards nominations due

-Sunday, Jan. 8 at noon EST: Live vote announcing winners, runners-up, and nominees for Rogers Best Canadian Film Award. Follow along at @TFCA

– Monday, March 6: In-person gala at the Omni King Edward Hotel with announcement of the winner of the Rogers Best Canadian Feature Award

 

The TFCA Awards will continue to include any film released theatrically in the Greater Toronto Area for one week (or 3 days within a week for documentaries and Canadian films, need not be consecutive) and feature films in commercial release on a home video platform such as OTT, VOD, SVOD, PVOD, etc., whichever is first, in the calendar year of January 1, 2022 to December 31, 2022. (Excludes films submitted for consideration in previous year). We will also consider films put forward as Oscar contenders or Canadian Screen Awards contenders with a confirmed release as above in through March 31 2023.

The TFCA will again award the following categories: Best Picture, Director, Actor, Actress, Supporting Actor, Supporting Actress, Screenplay, Documentary, International Feature, Animated Feature, First Feature, Rogers Best Canadian Film, the Stella Artois Jay Scott Emerging Artist Award, and the Company 3 TFCA Luminary Award.

Previous winners for the Rogers Best Canadian Film Award include Beans, Anne at 13,000 ft, and The Body Remembers When the World Broke Open. Many TFCA Award winners have gone on to win Academy Awards, including Drive My Car, Nomadland, and Parasite, and actors including Daniel Kaluuya (Judas and the Black Messiah), Laura Dern (Marriage Story), Olivia Colman (The Favourite), and Regina King (If Beale Street Could Talk).
